We are looking for poems that address the role of the male in literature and beyond. We are particularly interested in poems that discuss the role of men in society now. Since women’s liberation the role of men has changed. Cultural portrayals of men have been flipped on their head, yet the canon is still steeped in dead white men. Can we ever escape the canon? We can change it, we can  add to it, but the original canon will always be made up of dead white men. How do we feel about the original canon? How do we feel about the changes to the canon? How do we feel about the white man’s place in literary culture and pop culture today? With a new focus on multiculturalism, has the white man been lost in contemporary literature? We are open to all styles of poetry. Have the canon authors inspired you or insulted you? Ideally we would like to have an anthology that looks at the topic from multiple perspectives: Women, Multicultural, and Men themselves. If you have questions, please email us at dwmanthology@gmail.com
The poems have to be no more than two pages, please send 3-5 poems or up to five pages.
Each accepted contributor will receive one print copy of the anthology. Publisher: TBA
Deadline: June. 1st 2013
